Life ... Sour Sweet Bitter Hot

What's Sour ...

All through my life I always figured in the "Few Extra Kgs " category. No matter what I tried smiley_aaxn.gif , I never could shed those extra kgs and fulfill my dream of being called slim..*frown*  It doesnt matter any longer, I guess ...coz ppl like me the way I am and hey look at my pics and you will say I am Beautiful ..Gee

Being fit is what really matters...( nah, I am not rationalising). Now I sing to my self,

I'm large, I'm in charge, I am out and I am proud

Graduation Diploma and Tassels
 What's Sweet ...

Won Gold medals in Graduation and Post Graduationsmiley_aarh.gif...( Still couldnt figure out how... !! ), but sure made myself & all those close, very proud. But the sweetest thing is.....

No need to take exams anymore. *YEAH!*

What's Bitter ...

Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

- H. Longfellow

...better keep them deep within ... *sigh deeply* ... No Pity.gif (1325 bytes)

What's Hot ...

On any pleasant day, (when I am not having one of those mood swings), spend a couple of hours talking to me and I am sure you will come back for more. If not anything, ya shall surely find me very interesting.

and hey, I am a great listener too...and sometimes give great advices (Bulls Eye!)

and after a good nice meal with lots of hot chillies,
I can make you roll over with some good humour (Beware...I am famous for my Wodehousian humour)

 Tongue2.gif (1979 bytes)

and on one of those very happy days when the trees are singing I can enthrall you with a great danceem31.gif

  Other things in life ...

I dare not ask a kiss,
I dare not beg a smile,
Lest having that, or this,
I might grow proud the while
No, no, the utmost share
Of my desire shall be
Only to kiss that air
That lately kissed thee

His smile sets me free...

A Little Bit of History...

Hmmm. . . Here is something about my past.  Do you really care?  Well. . .If not, go to a different page, please.  If you are an amazingly bored person who likes to read people's history, continue on. . .

I was born in mid october, a bonny baby (my mommy told me).  I'm the first child in the family, so I hogged all the attention and love of the whole family till the little villain (my brother) came along two years later, but being the eldest child gives you a lot of advantages and I used that fully. I had another advantage of being the only girl among all the cousins (dont envy me!!). I lived and studied in a couple of places around the country, but lived in Visakhapatnam for most part of my life. My parents still live there and that is where my heart is. Vizag is a beautiful place (you will know what I mean when you see these pics). I  love the sea and  the virgin beaches. Life is just cool there.

I'm not terribly popular, but. . . That's not what I'm after. I could care less if people liked me, as long as I liked myself.  What matters most to me is that I am extremely popular among the group I lovedazzler1.gifand people enjoy my company. My parents are a big influence over how I live my life.  Because of them, I've got this desire to enter the corporate world and make it big here.  I'm hoping for my dream to come true.

My childhood passed like a dream. Great parents who gave me all I wanted. I treasure every moment of it. I enjoyed college immensely (see pics of my alma mater) I also learned that I was capable of being a good student, rather than just a good rememberer. I put my heart and soul into it and my efforts were rewarded with two gold medals. I suppose that's something many people might latch on to, but I can't say that I did. Studenting is a good way to learn things, but I think we often overlook more radical bastions of education in favor of the mundane. I am content and happy that my heart is in the right place.

Love life, well... I always thought that I had a way with guys since most of my good friends are guys. But life was rather bumpy when it came to love life. Lots of crushes ever since kindergarten but serious relationships never happened. Thanks to my indecisiveness and all those guys who couldnt respect a good relationship. I get nervous in relationships.  When things go great, I balk. . . I find little things that shouldn't matter and make them matter.  I have issues.  I'm very aware of this, THANK YOU. So, the search for the Prince charming gallopin.sml.gifwent on...and on... . Now I realised that marriage is a forbidden fruit. I was warned.... but it's too late41616-4.gifand I already took a bite (a big one at that). Hey, but this is not to discourage those of you who want to get married. Go on ...take the plunge. After all happiness is not the only thing in life!!!!evillaugh3.gif

Reading interests 234.gif...

I am an avid romance reader!! However, although I like a good romantic book, I have wide ranging interests, from fiction to philosophy, science to astrology. I love comics too...

Richard Bach, has been one of my favourite writers of all time...I love the simple philosphies of love and life he shares. Illusions, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Out of my mind, There is nothing like far away figure among my favourites, but nothing to beat The Bridge across forever , a remarkable book that inspires and encourages readers to appreciate life, never give up, and discover one's true potential.  I like the way he pops down his ideas with an untroubled earnestness.

I have been a great admirer of Eric Seagal too. I love his captivating style. His first novel Love Story is a magnum opus. It has been an emotional ride for me. I fell in love with Love Story. Though I could never get myself to say that I love Ayn Rands work, I have to admit, I just cant resist reading her. Be it We, the Living or Fountain Head and Atlas Shrugged, her vision of man and her philosophy for living on earth has had a deep impact on me.

If a life can have a theme song and I believe that every worthwhile one has mine is [best] expressed in one word: Individualism.

                                                            - Ayn Rand

Talk about fiction and I love Ken Follet, Fredrick Forsyth and how can I forget my collection of Sydney Sheldon. May be because of my impatience, I just can't wait long enough to come to the end of a big novel, thats why I prefer short stories many a times. My favourite is O Henry (William Sydney Porter). He is a skilled and inventive writer. No one can ever forget the "Gift of Magi".

Life is made of sobs, sniffles and smiles, with sniffles predominating

                                                                                                                    -O Henry

An author who deserves a special mention here is PG Wodehouse...Man, what a writer! His stories were not written to be "important" or to appeal to critics; They were straight forward humour. He was a punctilious and diligent writer whose only aim seems to make as many people as possible laugh.  While on the subject of humour I have to say my favourite contemporary author of humour is Marien Keyes - her signature style is hilarious and heart warming. I strongly recommend Lucy Sullivan is getting married and Watermelon ( Smiles, giggles and laughs guaranteedicon_lol.gif)

Thanks to my management background, I have always loved reading management books. Stephen Covey is one of my all time favourites. I am a huge fan of Al Ries and Jack Trout. Say self help and I think of Dale Carnegie & Anthony Robbins. Who moved my cheese? has been a great help when I needed it the most. Hey, before I forget I loooooooooove reading autobiographies, the best among the many I read is Every street is paved with Gold.

dancing.jpg

Dance...

Dance in my greatest PASSION!! My favorite kind is classical Indian dance. The training I have recieved in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and kathak has been very enriching. The profundity of conception and directness of expression in these dance forms are of great artistic value. If I have enjoyed something all through my life, it is Dance!! It makes me feel complete. In the best of moodsI enjoy dancing to fast and loud music. Be it Garba or Cotton Eyed Joe, I just cant resist dance in any form.

The overwhelming buoyancy of spirit and the eloquent, effortless ease in country/folk styles and tribal dances has always excited me. Over the years, I have had opportunities to perform Thimsa, Bihu, Dandia & Koli and each one of them has been truly enticing. I find Bhangra very powerful and lively.

As a child I used to love doing Gobbi around the Rangoli at Pongal time. Thanks to my Gujarati friends who have taught me Garba, I fell in love with the graceful movements of thid dance. Come weekends and I let my hair loose and Disco to glory. Dan Da Da Dan, Dan Da Dan Dan.. wherever I hear the Dhol, I have to struggle hard to keep myself into breaking into a Teen Maar.*Giggles*

Music...

My favorite kind is Ghazals and soft rock of the seventies (and a few from today). But I also like country/western and soft instrumental. I think Bryan Adams is great. There is magic in Hariharan's voice. I love listening to Pankaj Udhas and Jagjit Singh. My Favourite band is Bluerock_band.gif. Among the women folk, I like the inimitable Subha Mudgal and I love the melody in Chitras voice. I find Celine Dions voice soul stirring.

My latest fav is Norah Jones. I am 'jazzed' about her. She is too good...just like her father. I have also begun to enjoy (thanks to my bro who is working very hard on improving my music taste smiley_abxh.gif) the Trans stuff of Talvin Singh  His music holds Eastern and Western Rythms so well, its smooth, exotic and hypnotic. Another genre of music I like very much is Sufiana music because it carries within it a range of exquisite moods from deep, serene melancholy to sober ecstasy. Singers like Abeeda Parveen and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan are par excellence.

Internetfan.sml.gif...

This is almost like the un-recognised 2nd degree which I have obtained.  I enjoy surfing, making new friends and chatting over the net.  The vast knowledge and information repository called the world wide web takes up most of my free time. I have mastered the art of churning out any kind of information. I can sit for hours on the net completely oblivious to the world out side. I have made a lot of friends in cyberspace , thanks to MSN and Yahoo and the innumerable penpal sites ..... Some time back I made a huge collection of URLs of all kinds. I plan to publish it some day..

TV & Movies...

I also enjoy watching TV and am a big movie buff too. Romantic Comedies are my best bet. I love the old classics like  Roman Holiday. I generally like anything creative. I like science fiction, comedy, fantasy, action-adventure films, and even well done "tear jerker" movies.  One of my fav. passtimes is lazing around the house watching the music channels and National Geographics. I hate the soap operas but love talk shows. I go to cinema for movies when I can afford the time.

They call someone like this a couch Potato ? smiley_abar.gif

Collections...

I LOVE collecting things and have been through several collecting "phases". I'm obsessed! I have tons of Ear Rings (The count as of date is 7512. I have collected everything from glass to diamonds), Stamps, Coins, softtoys, Charming Ganeshas, Cute porcelain dolls, old postcards, greeting cards (which people sent me since I was 6),  this, that and a zillion other things. If it is cute, I probably want it :)  LolLolLolLol.gif

Other Hobbies and Pastime ...

Shopping - I am notorious for my long shopping sprees. I love the  impulse purchases I make.

Sports - I was never really fond of sports. I am more of an indoors person (except when on long drives or trekking and picnicing). Though I tried my hand at a few sports, lawn tennis for quite some time (due to my dad's constant pushing) and games like kho kho and basket ball but I never could excel in them. I was however very good at football 261.gif as long as I played it (Its a pity that women's football is not very popular). Now my interest in sports is limited to watching them on TV. I usually dont miss any of the major Tennis matches. I find it absolutely boring to watch cricket due to the length of the matches but whenever there is a major match I take the pains to watch it as I dont like missing the excitement.

Food 059.gif - You wouldn't find a bigger food freak than me..er..I guess the right word is 'Gourmet'food.sml.gif. I call it a hobby coz I love trying different types of cuisine - Indian, Chinese, Italian, Lebanese, Arabic, Continental, Mexican, Japanese, Thai...you name it and I have savoured it but nothing can ever beat the food cooked by my Mom..

Designing - I design some nice clothes and love decorating the home too. I am a little too particular about tidiness, so people in the house have a tough time. Even if I am at some one else's house and I see a crooked picture on the wall, I feel very uncomfortable until I go and straighten it (I can see you sigh already!!)

Hanging out with friends...This is what I do best and love the most. Heeeeeeeeeeee *ROFLMAO.gif (4529 bytes) I am a bonafide night owl and a social butterfly (It has come down a lot over the last year or so due to the biggest ever depression I am going through.Huh.. marriage doesnt suit me)

Star Gazing, Comics & Listening to Songs....

By the way, I also catch up with the latest movie hits and gossips about artistes / actors / actresses / singers / idols etc. I usually grab magazines and comics from road side stalls and read them on the trains. I love collecting Garfield comics. This cat is absolutely adorable. My other favourites are Tom and Jerry and ofcourse the mouse couple Mickey and Minnie smiley_abdr.gif.

Did I miss out anything ?

I am still on the hunt for something NEW and interesting

It's life, Sidda. You don't figure it out. You just climb up on the beast and ride.
